Subject: [firstname]: Eat these to boost metal clarity

Hey [firstname]!

I want to follow on from what we were talking about yesterday, because in addition to keeping your gut healthy, there are also certain fruits and vegetables you can eat to help keep your brain sharp.

Once again, blueberries top the list.  These superfoods are full of antioxidants that can boost concentration and memory by helping to improve communication between brain cells.

Avocados are great, too. According to WebMD, “every organ in the body depends on blood flow, especially the heart and brain”, and avocados “[enhance] blood flow, offering a simple, tasty way to fire up brain cells”.

Leafy green vegetables such as kale and spinach are loaded full of antioxidants and carotenoids, which boost your brain power, and help protect your brain.  They also contain B vitamins that can help to sharpen and enhance memory.

Pumpkin seeds contain powerful antioxidants that protect the body and brain from free radical damage. They're also an excellent source of magnesium, iron, zinc and copper – all essential to keep your brain and central nervous system healthy. 

The good news is: Chocolate can be good for you!

Dark chocolate can help you focus for a number of reasons. Firstly, it has small amounts of caffeine, which has been proven to heighten mental alertness. It also contains magnesium, which helps you deal with stress,  and it also stimulates the release of endorphins and serotonin, which can make you feel good and heighten your mood.  Be sure to choose dark chocolate, though, not sugar-laden milk chocolate.

Your morning cup of “Joe” can be good for you, too. The two main components in coffee, caffeine and antioxidants, help your brain. 

The caffeine in coffee has a number of positive effects on the brain, including: Increased alertness,
improved mood and sharpened concentration.

If you're not a coffee drinker, try green tea instead.  It contains caffeine and L Theanine – which has been been shown to increase alpha-wave activity, which in turn increases tranquility.
